CA Proposition 65 Warning
WHAT IS PROPOSITION 65?
Proposition 65, officially known as the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, is a law that requires businesses to provide warnings to California consumers when they might be exposed to chemicals known to the state of California to cause cancer or reproductive toxicity. This law aims to help consumers make informed decisions about potential chemical exposures from products they use. The California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) administers the Proposition 65 program and publishes the list of over 850 chemicals known to cause harm.
In August 2016, OEHHA introduced new regulations that came into effect on August 30, 2018. These regulations updated the warning requirements for Proposition 65.
WARNING FOR OUR PRODUCTS
WARNING: This product can expose you to chemicals such as acrylamide, lead, nickel, and chromium, which are known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. For more information, please visit www.P65Warnings.ca.gov.
WHY DOES EXOTIC SNACKS COMPANY PROVIDE THIS WARNING?
Exotic Snacks Company is committed to complying with all relevant laws, including Proposition 65. We provide this warning to ensure full compliance with the law. However, it's important to note that this warning does not mean that our products will cause harm. Additionally, a Proposition 65 warning does not imply that the product is unsafe. California's government has clarified that “the fact that a product carries a Proposition 65 warning does not by itself mean that the product is unsafe.” Proposition 65 should be seen as a “right to know” law, not solely a product safety law.
